I Have To Do It!

I have started to sort through some of my older quilts.....They have been loved by The McKinley's for years!! And they have been washed many, many times.

They are too ragged to be used on beds or to snuggle up in while watching TV.

I have decided to cut the ragged quilts!

There are a few blocks that are in good shape.

I will use the blocks for sewing projects, or tucked in blog pal packages. And the blocks with be much easier to store! No more quilts in the linen closet that can't be used for keeping warm!

Off to get my scissors!!!

My Hometown!

Tammy's in Love sponsored a tag swap, called My Hometown.  This was one swap were I didn't change my mind multiple times.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I was born in San Francisco, and adopted by the best two people in the world. I went home with them at 3 days old. When I was 2 years old we moved down the peninsula to Mountain View, California. It's a city, a suburb, about 30 miles south of San Francisco.

The postcard of the cable sat on my mom's desk for as long as I can remember. We loved riding the cable cars! And the Golden Gate Bridge! How much more San Francisco can you get?

I decided to show some of the companies that call Silicon Valley home...oops! in looking at this photo I realize I have two PayPal logos...I sure hope my Prototype tag didn't get mixed up with the ones I sent to Tammy!  The PayPal logo on the upper right should be a Yahoo! logo!

Oh, well, my apologies if the prototype was sent out!

I wrapped the tags in a copy of our local paper, The Campbell Reporter.

The City of Campbell is located in the Santa Clara Valley, know for it's fruit orchards.

With 3 of my 5 girls living in different areas of the country, I often think what would it be like to live somewhere else....and I'm not sure I could!

Fall Banner Number 2!

I wanted to share the Fall Banner I made for my swap partner Sandy who blogs at 521 Lake St.

I started this swap off with one idea......and then I changed my mind....you can read about that here.

I decided to use some fabric that I had on hand instead of paper. I spelled out the word Autumn and put each letter on a scrap piece of burlap.

A few embellishments, and stitched to a piece of fabric and it was done.

You gotta love the Goodwill...I found a Starbucks Fall coffee cup and filled it with tea bags, and a tin pumpkin that holds a tea light. I made a fabric pumpkin, and filled a vintage salt shaker with a few Halloween candies. Fabric strips added to tea towels, and Sandy's Fall package was finished.

Fall Banner Swap!!

My swap partner for the Fall Banner Swap, hosted by Deb who blogs at Garage Sale Gal, was Sandy, who blogs at 521 Lake Street. Sandy sent so many surprises in my package!!

Before I share what Sandy sent me a little history....

Sandy's blog was one of the first blogs I started reading on a regular basis. She hosted an Easter Tag Swap in the Spring of 2011 and was kind enough to let me join, even though I did not have a blog. Not a problem she said, if your partner has a blog, I'm sure she'll share what you've traded, and if not I will.

I had never made a tag before. I set up a table, not a card table mind you, but a 6 footer in the sitting area of the master bedroom and cut away.  I was determined however to have a blog created in time to do my own posting about the Easter Swap.

I wasn't sure how I was going to get it all done, between work and creating tags to trade, so...when daughter number 5 came home from college on spring break she had a job....create a blog for mom.  She asked me all sorts of questions...what will you blog about, what about a name...so many things to decide! I came home from work one day and she was finished. Little did I know that before I moved my sewing room upstairs, she had taken pictures of my room and my favorite things.

That's the header that still welcomes you to Perfectly Printed!!

Any Whoooo....

The Fall Banner is just perfect!! I have it hanging on my corner cabinet in our dining area. It fits perfectly!!

Each letter is embellished with a fall decoration.  I love the colors, and the papers!!

She even decorated the back!!

In the package were several little packages wrapped in the cutest brown wax paper bags. I didn't take before pictures of the little packages....I was so excited to open them I forgot!

But....

I did take after pictures
a pumpkin candle and leaf candle tray, some great recipe cards, and some fabric embellishments. All will be used this Fall season!!
3-D fall decorations, and some cool plastic leaves, in bright Fall colors!!

Sandy was a great partner!! Such a thoughtful person!! The Xavier Ct house is starting to look a little like Fall thanks to Sandy!!!

Plans Change......

I had planned to spend my day packaging and mailing my tags for Tammy's in Love Hometown Tag Swap.......

But my cell phone rang and that was it!

I had to go to work.... a crisis.... needless to say I was not too happy about my plans being changed.

On the way to work I saw a sign for an Estate Sale and I decided to reward myself for putting a smile on my face, and stop.

First thing I saw was something I never can resist.......Ever.....well....unless it's out of my price range.......but this one wasn't.....

a wrought iron lawn chair....one dollar! Right in my budget!! My family thinks I'm crazy. I have quite a few lawn chairs. They just seem to call my name. When I showed Mr. Math he smiled and said another one? I said well it was only a dollar, I know I didn't really need it....he smiled again and said well maybe not, but the way you set them up in the yard looks so nice!  I guess he does notice!

I also picked up a few linens

beautiful tatting

a sweet baby's sleeping jacket, with a pink embroidered lamb.

Two vintage plaid thermos bags, complete with the sandwich box!! Just in time for football season!!

I was feeling a little guilty about stopping on the way into work......but after having the owner tally up my purchases and the total less than $10.00, I got over it pretty quick!!

Now back to the original plan...first, however, an email to Tammy to let her know I will be a day late with my Hometown Tags, maybe if I send her a few crocheted items she'll forgive me!

Can't Make Up My Mind!!

I seem to run into this problem on a regular basis......I join a swap and have an idea about what I want to do and then I change my mind.

I joined the Fall Banner Swap at Garage Sale Gal's, hosted by Deb, and had something in mind....I started off thinking I would do something with papers....

And then I started thinking that I wanted to do something a little different...

I had a few fall fabric scraps and a piece of burlap.

So I changed my mind about what I was making my swap partner.

Fabric instead of papers!

I will share what I made for Sandy, at 521 Lake St., once she has her package in hand.

One Good One.......

I guess one out of three isn't bad.  Today while running my errands, I stopped at three garage sales. Two were duds!!

One, however, produced some fun finds. Well, at least I think they are fun!

three great tablecloths
Hard to see in these pictures but a vintage Eskimo fan in....Aqua!!
and it works!!
A pink Pyrex pie dish and shallow casserole

Several crocheted pot holders, dollies, and a box full of patterns. The patterns are almost all complete and most never used. Some from the 60's and a lot from the 70's....the woman who had these patterns must have loved pant suits, and the suggested fabric....polyester!

Not bad for one good one!
