I worked on two quilts this holiday season....one was a baby quilt and one was a Christmas quilt for Miss Margaret.
Years ago I bought a few panels of fabric because I loved the Santa's on it and I loved the sayings.
Of course I never did anything with panels...until this year when I decided to make a Christmas quilt for Miss M.
I choose bright red, white and gray fabric for the borders. I used a Christmas red minky fabric for the back.
I loved the fabric I choose for the new baby! I didn't know if it was a boy or a girl...so I need something generic.
I guess I should take a picture before I sew the rows together, I am just noticing a mistake in the first two rows... I'm off with the design.....Oh well, it gives it a little personality right?

Hi Chris, these are wonderful. I'm going to make a Christmas quilt for next year. I think one would look great hanging above the mantel. Your baby quilt is delightful, I love the colors and the little fishes :)

ReplyDeleteThe Santa quilt will be a treasure from Grama for years to come! I hope your daughter puts it away and it only comes out at Christmastime to make it a special memory each year as Miss M grows up!

They're beautiful Chris! What mistakes? If there are any it just makes it more unique. Love the retro looking Santa you chose. Both quilts are sweet!

ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful. I love all of the pretty Christmas fabric, don't you? It sure makes a pretty quilt. Everyone will be warm and snuggly in these! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! Love them both. How fun to have a Santa blankie!
ReplyDeleteWhat darling quilts. The Christmas one is so traditional with that Santa and the BELIEVE. The baby quilt is very sweet with the polka dots. They happen to be my favorites and I have them in all kinds of combinations and colors. Don’t feel bad about not catching an error in placement until after posting. I just did the same thing and had a heck of a time ripping it all out and putting it back together correctly. I do it a lot. Thanks for your kind comment on my blog. I just love having visitors. genie
ReplyDeleteLove those quilts -- I especially like the red & white ornament fabric on the Christmas quilt...is it vintage?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about the mistakes. I think I read somewhere that the Amish always leave a small mistake in their quilts, because making it perfect is a mockery of God! The baby will grow up loving it and the error will just be part of the quilt's story.
