I do!!!
Another surprise find in one of my mom's boxes.....A little note tucked into the shoe box with the buttons told me that these buttons sewn on paper plates belonged to her cousin Emily.
Emily sewed the buttons to paper plates, I'm guessing so she could display them.
Loving the red and black combo
I don't know much about buttons, but these seem to have a pearl like finish
The purple and green glass buttons are my favorite! Although, I have to admit I like them all! Not sure how I'm going to display them, I'm thinking a shadow box

Wow, awesome treaures you keep digging up while searching those boxes! I bet you are so happy that your Mother was a collector and saved all kinds of things that were special to her. Have a blessed day!

I love Mother of Pearl buttons. Buttons are fun, aren't they? I remember spending many hours playing with my grandmother's buttons when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be sweet to think they were off some of her favorite outfits or winter coats. These are a great find...smiles..Renee
ReplyDeleteIt seems that vintage buttons are the item of the week! I love that you have your aunt's buttons and that she loved them enough to preserve her collection in a unique way! The Kitsch'n Stuff blogg showed buttons sewn to bingo cards and...as you've seen on my blog...another crafter has sewn hers to darling kids cards. The creativity of women never ceases to amaze me! =D
ReplyDeleteMore treasures! I've never seen buttons sewn to paper plates like that - good for display, as you say, and also to prevent loss. Beautiful collection!
ReplyDeleteLove, love buttons. I have a gazillion and my favorite are some I have sewn on a large piece of fabric. Never seen them on paper plates before.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a find!! I think the white shiny ones are "Mother of pearl" They are really desirable and I'm with you, I love the purple and green ones.

Really nice - maybe start using them on crafts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat find, and how great that your mother documented it. laurie
ReplyDeleteOne fun thing after another, you lucky duck! Green glass buttons might look cool on a lamp shade...
ReplyDeleteYou are uncovering a real treasure trove! Purple buttons! Ahhh! I can't even imagine taking the time to sew buttons on a paper plate... They really are pretty.

This is so sweet! There are some really pretty buttons, but I love that she sewed them onto paper plates.
