Girl's Sunday Fun!!

Yesterday a close friend and I went to the Willow Glen Lifestyles Home Tour. Willow Glen is neighborhood in San Jose, California. The annual tour is a benefit for the San Jose Day Nursery, a 96 year-old nonprofit group that provides childcare to low-income families.

The tour included visiting 6 homes and for an extra $13.00 you could order a box lunch. We did of course, and enjoyed our lunch in the garden of the 6th home.

I was only able to take pictures outside, and even then had to be a little sneaky...no photo, and no camera signs were posted all over!

aren't the roses lovely
love the red brick walkway
this rabbit sculpture was made by the homeowner

two of my favorite backyards

this is the back door of one of the houses.. I love the urns!

I always come home with ideas for the Xavier Ct. House after touring houses. Going on house tours, is one of my favorite things to do!! I will share more photos tomorrow.

Wanna Come Over And Play??

Last summer I picked up two barkcloth curtain panels..... I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but for $12.00 I could not pass them up.

The curtain panels always seemed to be in the way.... I couldn't seem to find the right place to store them.  I finally decided that I would make seat back covers for the chairs in my craft/sewing room.  The chairs don't match and I don't mind that they don't match. But... making the seat back covers adds a little character to them. A simple project...measure the backs of the chairs, cut the fabric, and sew away.

I have three chairs in the craft/sewing room....one for the sewing table, one for the work table, and an extra one just in case. Plenty of chairs for friends...

Wanna Come Over???

The Little Mailman of Bayberry Lane

Today I am sharing a book called The Little Mailman of Bayberry Lane. The last book I shared was about a mailman too. I seem to be drawn to stories about mail....maybe that's because I am enjoying receiving more personnel mail since I've started blogging. Tag swaps and little notes from my blogging pals. Mail that I'm waiting for, and envelopes that come as surprises!

Anyway...

The Little Mailman of Bayberry Lane.....

is a sweet story about Mrs. Pig who never receives any mail. All the other folks who live on Bayberry Lane receive mail regularly. The little mailman worries about this and decides he knows how to fix it. He sits down and invites all the neighbors who live on Bayberry Lane to Mrs. Pig's home for a little get together.
Mrs. Pig waits patiently by her mailbox but the Little Mailman just passes by her mailbox..he delivers to Mrs. Duck and leaves tulip bulbs for Mr. Turtle

Mrs. Pig was a wonderful baker and always baked on Fridays... the Little Mailman decides that he should invite the neighborhood to a little party at Mrs. Pig's house...on a Friday to enjoy her baking. This would be a wonderful way for Mrs Pig to make new friends
Mrs Pig is so excited to see all the neighbors
and they enjoy a game of croquet
the next day Mrs. Pig receives several thank you notes from her neighbors! And she continues to receive mail now from her new friends!!
Mission accomplished by the Little Mailman of Bayberry Lane..he was one busy mailman, delivering mail to all the neighbors on Bayberry Lane!
I just love the pictures in this book!! It is one of my favorites and was one of my girls favorites too!!

Linking up to Lil' Vintage Story Books

Enjoy your weekend!!

A Thank You and a Chair

Yesterday when checking email and comments on my blog, I was pleased, honored, and oh, so excited to discover that my chicken feeder plate rack post..... drum roll please, was featured on the Have a Daily Cup from Mrs. Olson blog, hosted by Jann! Jann hosts a blogging party once a week on Thursdays and invites bloggers to "share" something you love. Please visit her blog, and join the party!!

I have had a couple of pretty rough days at work this week, and this was such a nice surprise! Having one of my "creations" chosen to be featured....well, I just can't say enough about how great it made me feel!! Thank you so much Jann!!

Today as I drove into the driveway of the Xavier Ct. House, I decided that the front of the Xavier Ct. House needed a little something more in front of the birch trees....

I had an Adirondack chair in the backyard and thought maybe it would be better in front of the birch trees....

I love the red, but the chair needs a fresh coat of paint.... I was thinking about using this as inspiration....

but in looking at the pillow, which was given to me by one of the Flea Market Friends, I think I may go with the blue in the pillow...

What do you think?

It's About Time!!!

I have finally gotten around to changing the Peep wreath that was on the front door of the Xavier Ct. House.

I really liked the Peep wreath and wanted to leave it up for the 5 daughters to see when they came home two weekends ago. And then the rest of the week just got away from me!

I needed something quick and easy...and.....of course not too expensive. I looked through my stuff in the garage and found a little metal basket type thing with a handle on it that I had picked up at the Goodwill quite awhile ago for a $1.00...

I added some Rosemary and Lavender from the yard and a couple of seed packs tucked in...tied up with a fabric strip
And.....

The change is complete!

Another Project Off My List!

I have been saving invitations that I have received over the years from one of my closest friends, whom I refer to in my blog as the Invitation Maker. I have been thinking about how to display them...you know out of a drawer and somewhere I could enjoy them.

I decided to tie together fabric strips from leftover projects and swag it across the window in my crafting room.

The window is right above my sewing machine and in front of the table I craft at. I have a perfect view of the invitations!

Maybe tomorrow a peek at the crafting room!!
